How To Become a Volunteer at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center
Involve yourself in "Volunteerism"? Better yet, include "Tourism"......which means being one of our dedicated volunteers to staff the National Historic Cheesemaking Center and Green County Welcome Center.
Don't feel you know enough about the history of cheese? No problem, we have an excellent audio tour. Don't have the time? The time commitment is as little as 3 1/2 hours a month. Fearful of being alone at the Center? We do our best to staff the Center with two host or hostesses per shift.
A Volunteer orientation is held at the beginning of each season and provides you with your own volunteer manual, in addition to volunteer guidelines available to you during the time you are volunteering.
The Center is staffed daily from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily, April 1st through October 31st. Volunteers may choose to volunteer from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, 12:30 pm to 4:00pm, or an entire day. Every effort is made to have two volunteers on duty at a time.
If you would like to join the over 50 volunteers, please contact us at (608)325-4636, and a member of the staff will return your call and answer any question you may have.
